What are they looking for?

With just 21 days to go, the council is seeking two types of projects:

  • Cultural Engagement & Social Value: This is your opportunity to develop projects that encourage participation in cultural activities among underrepresented groups, such as people of color, disabled individuals, or those with lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Civic Pride & Placemaking: Let us breathe life into Wolverhampton's streets! This grant supports events and activities that attract visitors and revitalize specific areas, particularly those with low footfall, while connecting the daytime and nighttime economy.

What's in it for you?

Selected projects can receive revenue grants of up to £10,000 to bring their ideas to life.  Not only will you be making a positive impact on your community, but you'll also gain valuable experience through a "test and learn" approach. This means the council encourages innovative ideas and will use the learnings from your project to shape future cultural strategies for the city.

Is your project a good fit?

Here are some key considerations:

  • Are you a Wolverhampton or Black Country-based artist, freelancer, creative business, or organization?

  • Does your project address low cultural participation or revitalization of specific areas?

  • Can you deliver a "test and learn" approach and share your learnings?

  • Are you able to implement your project and spend the grant by the end of December 2024?

How can I stand out?

The grant application includes questions that form part of the selection criteria with marks accompanying each question. Such questions are:

  • Description of project: Here, you are expected to state what you propose to deliver, how it will be delivered. What issues your project would address.  70 marks

  • What will the benefits be and how will it support CWGLEF impacts?  30 marks

  • Project start and end date

It is imperative that you note the questions and give a well-defined plan/blueprint when turning in your application.

When is the deadline?

Applications are open now until April 30th, 2024, and the budget is limited. Rules are the highest scoring applications will be awarded funding and funding must be spent by end December 2024.

Decisions will be made by the end of May.
